step file creation

Does anyone know why, when I try to create a step or iges file from inventor 10, I get booted out of inventor? I am just trying to export a spring pin.

I don't have any problems exporting to step.

Is it an i-part or linked to an excel sheet? I don't know why that would matter, but it might. Try .sat for kicks?
