step OD profile flex collars

i am working in a machine shop(related to the machining of drilling components for oilfield).
For flex collars, it is seen that step OD(ie. stress relief OD's at middle portions). Any one can provide the optimum step radius/slop required to avoid the stress cracks? Or can I get the details from any other standards like IADC spec?
