Stone veneer covered deck column

Do you guys have a detail you can share how you frame deck column with natural stone veneer (6" thick including mortar) all the way to the top and above the deck? I never like this scenario and it is very hard to transition from concrete pier, to column to wood with stone around it. In the past I have always used HSS column to make sure the column would not rot, the furring will eventually rot. Got a detail to give me ideas? i imagine the actual strucutral post will be a 6x6 or 8x8 timber up the centre
then you will have secondary non-structural framing surounding it to build out the geometry
apply the veneer back to the secondary framing
ideally the "interior" build up should freely ventilate so as to avoid rot
 
Simpson claims the Titen Turbo screws are for interior use only. Maybe could use the 410 stainless ones.
