I have a sheet metal part, I unsuppress the flat pattern in the browser and it shows me the flat pattern.
When making a drawing of this part,I put flat pattern as the view and it shows it as folded.

in the browser for the drawing view I have

"orientation" : flat pattern
"reference configuration" : default
"flat pattern options" : DefaultSM-FLAT-PATTERN

under the "More Properties" button
"configuration information"
"use named configuration" is checked and the name is "DefaultSM-FLAT-PATTERN"

Any ideas?

Delete your view, go to the part and delete your sm-flat-pattern configuration. Save the files and try again. I have experienced strange flat pattern issues in the past, usually with the flat not displaying the bend lines. As for a reason why this happened, Ida know.

Make sure your "DefaultSM-FLAT-PATTERN" model configuration has the flat pattern in the browser unsuppressed (ie. shows the flattened state) & that the "Default" config shows the bent state. If you have been playing around with suppression states it can be quite easy to end up with reversed config states.

Limey, that was it. I didn't think to check the configurations. The flat pattern that automatically generates wasn't working. I deleted it and added it back in and it works fine.

Thanks.

Actually, deleting the config was Shaggy18VW's suggestion.

How did you get the actual derived flat pattern config to show in the list? This is a "magic name" in Solidworks, and, given 10 sheet metal configs, each with a derived flat pattern, you will notice NONE of the configs that show up in the list are the actual flat pattern views. Did you rename the config?

Right you are, thanks shaggy,

rocheey, I renamed the flat pattern config exactly as the default flat pattern is named and it worked fine.

No hurt feelings here. Glad you were able to get the flat pattern to work.
