I'm reviewing some vendor calculations and I'm seeing some strange MAWP numbers in the pressure summary. The temp is 300ºF and the flange rating should be the MAWP (230 psi at this temp) but COMPRESS is reporting 229.99 psi in the pressure summary. There is no liquid head and you can clearly see that COMPRESS is using 230 psi in its thickness calculations. Any ideas ?

I ran a test run in compress using plain a shell with a blinded 150# SA-105 slip on flange on either side. I put no liquid level. When running the calcs, it had exactly 230 psi MAWP.

When I put a liquid level to the top of the 6" NPS shell, the MAWP went down to 229.78 psi. The only thing I can think of is static head.

CRL11,

My boss ran into exactly the same issue. When he reached out to Codeware support, they replied with an email saying that it is a bug and they are going to fix it for the next time around.

Hope it helps,

Eddy
