Yesterday I was at my office and I see a strange specification from a customer of me, about a ABB asyncronous generator, squirrel cage, 600 kw 1512 rpm, the application is a wind farm... it´s concerned to the bearings, two ball bearings, but the strange thing is he said he wants in the drive end side a ball bearing of FAG company, and in the non drive end bearing (this is the free side) a bearing of SKF company, does anybody knows why this specifications, or if ís it some diference between the two bearings, we´re talking about a 6319 C3 bearing....
thank in advance and always wait for your good and intelligent answerss

Is one bearing insulated from ground, perhaps? Or maybe required to handle a high thrust load? I'm guessing they have a reason.

no insulated bearing, the bearings seens to be the same kind... but differents factories.... and it´s for a wind farm and it´s supposed not to be high thrust load. and is a diference between the two bearing to support the thrust load???

Evaluation? After operation and tear down they can compare two bearings that have experienced the same number of revolutions.

Stevenal, good thinking. I was going to go with the low tech option - I think they screwed up when copying and pasting an old spec.

Isn't the 6319 C3 bearing a locating type? One end should be locating, and the other end sould be non-locating to allow shaft growth etc. If the customer has specified locating types at both ends, then this will surely give problems.

If both the bearings are locating type, then one of them will be free floating axially to allow thermal growth.

To the OP,

Yes, it is a strange spec that requires a clarification from the customer.

hi, there to all the people from eng tips, the bearing are the two C3 type, and no special diferences between them.. and the drive end is a located one( fixed radial and axial).... and the non drive end is more free in order to let it grow cause of the heat.
I try to get a clarification from them.... take care, and if some of you think something about please make me know
best regards...
