Is there a formula or table that will help to figure the air temperature at the ceiling level?. I found a rule of thumb that says the air temp. will increase 0.5 F for each foot of height. Is this correct?
Dear jeg,
it is more like 0.005deg F per ft. So ceiling will not be so cool as you expect. Further, inside a room due to convection effects, near ceiling hot gases accumulate and it is hotter. The above mentioned cooling is in the outside atmosphere for about 5-10 miles up in the so called troposphere above which is stratosphere where the reverse takes place!!See the link
