Has anyone seen what I think is stray current corrosion in a telephone cable jack and plug combination supporting an analog phone signal? The system is used in a coastal region. I'm concerned the salt, humidity and voltage between some of the pins would give this problem. Any slick ideas for solving, apart from butyl rubber type wrap?

Thanks,

Bob

In a coastal region I doubt that you need any voltage to get corrosion attack. A bit of moisture and the galvanic differences between the various metals in the connector will result in corrosion.
Are there better quality connector available? Made for better alloys or with heavier plating? Are they made with rubber boots to cover them?

Neither should your protection

Maybe use a silicone spray as sold for waterproofing automobile ignition systems.
