Hi, I am trying to design a customized flange for full face gasket( flat plate ). I have determined the number and size of the bolts required and now I am looking at calculating the stresses. Could anyone guide me on any book or website showing how to calculate the stresses?
Thanks you

If you're doing this for a pressure vessel designed to ASME Section VII (either Division) then there are explicit rules there. If it is for a B31 piping design, it too will point you to Section VIII. Otherwise, the above-noted links will suffice.

TGS4,

ASME VIII (Div. 1 or Div. 2) does not address flanges with full face gaskets. The Code just says that it does not prohibit their use "provided they are designed in accordance with good engineering practice and method of design is acceptable to the Inspector".
