Hi guys,

I use Cosmos 2006 to analyze assemblies under wind load (I design antennae and mounting hardware). I have a 4 part assembly that I ran a study and the max Von Mises stress in the stress plot was 3.038 KSI for a particular part, which is an FOS of 1.45 but when I ran the Design Check Wizard, the max Von Mises stress is indicated as ~4.8 KSI which gives the part an FOS of 0.94. Shouldn't the max stress be the same in Design Check? What am I doing wrong? I've tried running the study many times with different options but it still yields the same results. Any ideas? Thanks.

I ran stress plots for shear, principal stresses, von Mises etc.. and the highest stress value found was 3.618 ksi for the P1 principal stress at node 131771. The max Von Mises stress is also found at that same node. No sign of a 4.8 ksi stress anywhere! Is this a glitch with Cosmos?
