Good morning, or good afternoon, depending on the side of the world you are in.

I am a student at TU Delft, and I am finding troubles when trying to handle Abaqus.

For a certain application, I am trying to perform a stress relaxation test on Abaqus, by applying a constant strain of 1 mm/min to a piece. The problem is that I cannot seem to find an option for doing so, and Abaqus documentation for my version (6.14-1) only shows terms related to material properties when I try to look for the information. After a long while and a long search, I am unsure whether it is possible to actually do such analysis, and I decided to ask to a reliable source.

Can such analysis be done in Abaqus?

Thank you in advance,
Guillermo Jiménez

I may be wrong but are you new to FEM or are you new to Abaqus? Given how you have framed your question, my suspicion is that you are new to FEM. If that is the case, then I would strongly urge you to go through the Getting Started Guide and relatively straightforward analyses, if you haven't already.

Now, to your question, assuming you are talking about a uniform 'simple' strain, all you need to do is specify a displacement BOUNDARY CONDITION of a specified magnitude/direction.

TU Delft is a good school with a strong team(s) in computational biomechanics. You should have plenty of support if you make a few friends.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your support - you solved completely my doubt. And, indeed, I am new to FEM, and I will follow your advice.

Thank you again,
