String Manipulation Question How to Make a Smart Number

What I would like to do is change the Part Properties “Part Number” with information from the “User Parameters” with some string manipulation so I can get it to the correct format. (see attached image).

I don't believe I can do this with just CATIAV5 maybe a reaction and a little CATScript on the side. Your ideas, help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated please post examples or code for I have to admit I am not a programmer.

Do you have a restriction regarding CATIA file name?

I know most companies prefer to have file name equal with Part Properties "Part Number". If this is the case, is a little bit more complicated because changing just "Part Number" obviously will not affect the file name (you will need also a "save as" but you have to take care about UUID).
