Stripper for heavy oil ?

Hi,

I am working on a FCC fractionator project and a stripper for the heavy cycle oil (HCO) stream is on the scope of this project. The simulation we have here show that the flash point of the stream should be about 110oC,so it wouldn't be a problem since the minimum flash point we need is 60oC. But people here do not believe on simulators that much. The point is that even the simulation show a very small gain in flash point comparing the stripped stream and the same stream before the stripper (104oC before the stripper).

Do you have any piece of information on that ?

From reputable sources, flash points can be predicted by the following correlation based on the products' ASTM distillation:

Flash Point, ^oF = 0.77 (ASTM 5% in ^oF - 150^oF)​

An ASTM 5%-point of 104^oC would correspond to your findings.
