Aw786,
You are best to simulate this on a process simulation package such as HYSYS. You will need a lot more information than just the volumetric flow of feed. How about composition? How about product spec? Is this an existing column or a new design? If existing column then you will need all the design info about the column (e.g. number of trays or height of packing, diameter etc etc etc). What pressure / temperature is your steam at?

AW786:

(1) Read pages 158-196 in the book "Aqueous Wastes from Petroleum and Petrochemical Wastes", published by John Wiley and Sons, which is available in most university libraries.

(2) Read article "Program calculators for design study" in September 1976 issue of Hydrocarbon Processing. Send me your email address and I will email you a copy.

(3) Contact Bryan Research and Engineering (BRE) at who offer software that includes sour water stripper designing. I think that Aspen Tech's simulation software now includes BRE's software.
