Dear ALL,

I am currently carrying out an assessment of an existing concrete ribbed floor slab for computer euqipment loading. Anyone with suggestions for carrying out the survey and hints to what I should look out for. I would be curious to know how to treat the load safety factors for structural calculation checks. I have done a survey of the reinforcemnt in the ribs by breaking out some of the ribs at specific points.

ASCE's Standard 11-99, "Guideline for the Structural Condition Assessment of Existing Buildings" is a good reference. They outline the assessment proceedure, how assess various structural materials, how to test various materials and the structure of your report. They have a lot of information to go through but a nice format.
