Hello guys.
In couple of months I will be finishing up with Practical Stress analysis course by Flabel. I am looking for similar course to keep my reading flow intact. Can anybody suggest me something which I can do as a distant learning in Strcutures please.

look up the MIT "opencourseware" site

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?

OP, what is your end goal with these courses?

Are you looking to make a transition in to Aerospace structures engineering from your current discipline? Flabel is a great book, especially for practical aspects for Aerospace industry. I would suggest you start going through Bruhn and familiarize yourself with advanced aerospace concepts like introduction to Wing, Fuselage design etc. Other reference books include Aircraft Structures by David Perry and Introduction to Aircraft Structural Analysis by T.H.G Megson (a little heavy on math especially calculus).

Of course, if you want to move forward, I would suggest learning design of aerospace components using composite materials. Unfortunately, I don't know of good book like Flabel to provide a great practical introduction to Composite Static Design.

Also Fatigue/Damage Tolerance is an area if familiar by Structures Engineer would add value to his/her profile along with static design. I don't know if distant learning is available but one can buy a book from SigmaK which I think provides good practical introduction to metallic Airframe components Fatigue & Damage Tolerance design.

Most if not all of the above books, don't have the option of distant learning or guidance via a learned person. I was lucky to have a mentor at work who did help me out with difficult concepts and their practical applications.

Thank you RB and Burner.

@Burner,
I am into Aircraft interior stress field, Just wanted to keep my basics intact and keep learning more stuff. Flabel is very good course. It did give me more confidence in what I am doing. My problem is unless there is a binding to work on assignments and submit for review i might not sit and solve problems from different book. That is why i am looking for distant learning course. And a quick google shows that there is none like Flabel.

@RB1957,
The MIT course work looks good. I will review more for appropriate one for me.

Thanks

Let us know if you find any courses on MIT Opencourseware which are appropriate for Stress folks.

If you are in to Interior Stress field, you may wanna look in to Stressebook LLC. I have gone through their free blog and I think it contains basic but good information. They offer much more advanced info for paid members. I am unsure if their content structure requires commitment!

I believe this could add up to Flabel: (maybe not the whole book, but at least the first 5 chapters)
ADVANCED APPLIED STRESS ANALYSIS - CTF ROSS

And of course + Bruhn, Niu, Roark, Peterson, Bannantine (fatigue) and some others. But these 5 should help you with the most part of it.
I remember reading around 130-150 pages from Bruhn, Chapter C - so you could follow the same route.

It won't teach you everything right away, but it will leave a mark in your brain, so in the future when you are solving a problem - you'll know where to go to for that information if you come across such a problem.

But again, my method maybe arguable and not efficient. Every person is a different animal in the end. Hope this wraps it up better for you.

Thanks for the document. This is my job description. :)
The advanced tools in the current work process won't allow you to do hand calculation everyday. I am searching for such a course which keeps my statics knowledge alive.
