Hey, Guys,
Here is a question for you does anyone have any sort of guideline or inspection sheets for conducting the inspection of chemical plant structures in the USA. The Chief engineer came to us today and asked us about a five year inspection; we were not aware of anything and they did not know what was driving it. If anyone could shed some light on this it would be appreciated as it looks like we'll be conductiong one here.

Thanks Dale

What kind of structures? Tanks and containment structures can fall under API.

Sorry, For the Plant structures themselves, meaning the supports for catwalks, vessels, piping racks.

I used to work inside a Chemical Plant as a Structural Engineer but I'm not aware of any guideline for inspection as far as structure is concerned.

You'd inspect those structures just like any other structure i guess. Mosly check those rusting bolts/connections i guess.
