Stsinless steel cleaning

What is the right method of cleaning stainless steel elds after final fabrication. Is there any environmental friendly method of doing it. At the moment we are using food grade acid to clean it .Any suggestions.

Do the welds have any discoloration or heat tint? If not then life is easy. If you have tint you will need to be more aggressive.
We need to know what your goals are. Are you concerned about apperance? surface finish? corrosion resistance?
