Hi all,
I'm working on a project where we are building an addition to an existing home. The house was built back in the 1940s and the exterior walls are solid brick masonry. The exterior walls of the new addition is going to be traditional stick framed construction with structural sheathing.
My question is how to best make the positive connection between the exterior masonry and the new framing? I was initially thinking just masonry screws at 16" centers. Does the code stipulate something else?
Also, the project is in Virginia, so no extreme seismic requirements.
Thanks for the help
