I am looking for guidance on useful study and reference materials for the Level II Certification Exam given by the Vibration Institute.

I am a B.S. Mech Engineering, and have been doing equipment vibration analysis on and off for about 15 years, all on pumping equipment. It was not my primary responsibility, but in my position, field problems in my territory always seem to end up my responsibility to solve. As such, over the years, I have been involved in many dozens of projects with field vibration issues.

I have utilized IRD, CSI and Bentley Equipment, varying from simple single channel overall meters with band-pass filtering, to multi-channel full spectrum analyzers. I have also worked with outside specialist consultants using high end, high channel count systems, such as LMS, to troubleshoot difficult problems where my company's equipment would have been problematic to utilize due to channel limitations, and limited analysis methods.

Problems I have been involved in diagnosing:
*Rotor imbalance + field balancing (even using vector math/graphical methods and a simple filtered analyzer)
*Bearing Fault Frequencies
*Looseness
*Soft foot
*Misalignment (or rotor mechanical tolerance issues)
*Natural frequencies
*Vortex/Cavitation energy
*Cumulative phenomenon where multiple issues interact.

I have not dealt with rigid rotor machines with fluid film bearings, so oil whirl phenomenon is something I have not dealt with. Because most all of the equipment I worked with used anti-friction bearings, I have not done much measurement with proximity probes.

Any recommendations on books or other reference material for the Level II exam are appreciated, as well as general advice.

Thanks!
