Study on linear motors, linear permanent magnet synchronous motors

hi folks,
i have some interesting work coming up on linear motors. was just wondering if anyone has any extensive knowledge on permanent magnet synchronous motors. i have reviewed alot of work on linear induction motors, but finding it very diffucult to find any work/studies on permanent magnet synchronous linear motors. we are researching their value in linear motion control.
any help greatly appreciated.

Suggestion: Jane's Navy International published an article that the Gold Team has won the development of and building next generation of Navy ships DD 21 and DD X. The gold team has design the propulsion motor that has permanent magnets. There may be some articles available in the Navy journals and various Navy Conferences records.

I have uses Linear motors in many applications. They have their place like the others; Rodless actuators, Electric Cylinders, Precision stages, Fluid power, etc.
