Working on a retrofit project for an older structure and ran across steel designations I haven't seen before. Did some searching online with no real consensus so figured I'd turn to ET. Has anyone seen these designations below (highlighted) for steel beams and now what type of member it is referencing?

This is a stab in the dark, but...Is it an angle of some sort?

"6 Angle"........and then I don't know what.

Down on the bottom right they are calling out a 2 1/2 by 2 1 1/2 angle and the 'L' symbol looks the same.

Spieng89:
They are 6” deep light beams (LB) by 8.5 and 12 lbs./ft. They showed up as 6W8.5, etc. in later eds. of the steel manual.

Thanks everyone for the responses, light beam designation it is. The overall dimensions are consistent with the light beam information

See the attached pdf - a copy of two pages from the AISC 5th Edition Manual (1951)
This shows both of your beams and their shape data. I've highlighted the two beams on the pages.
