How do you calculate the subgrade reaction modulus of a soil? I need to check some old design calcs by hand and do not know what value I should use for kh. I do have the general soil parameters and the results of a Brom computer analysis. But these results do not include details of the lateral pile displacements and so I cannot use the relationship between pressure and displacement (p-y). Any ideas?

FAK,
There have been several threads related to this subject. Many of them, it seems, have been fairly recent too. Try doing a search or just look through the titles to find some. It is important to understand that the subgrade modulus (or moduli as the case may be) is definitely not a property of the soil, but rather is dependent on a variety of site and project specific items.
