There seems to be two schools of thought on the virtue of both alternatives. I am looking a reference that might shed light on when to use a geogrid/nonwoven combo (i.e. soil types, loading configurations, etc), or when to use a woven geotextile? (Application: Soils with CBR < 1, 91,000 kg G.V.W. off-highway trucks, loading < 1000 cycles)

Hello foreng

Try this for a start - "Laboratory Behaviour of Geogrid and Geotextile Reinforced Flexible Pavements", Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA- Authors, Smith, Brandon et al, February 1995. 100 plus pages. Should set you on the right track. Several years ago I was asking a geosynthetic presenter some question about the applicability of the data to different environments. He then left his copy that he was using for the presentation with me. I am sure that you can obtain same from a library or from the University.

Good Luck

I found the reference here
