dear friends:

I would like to request any info regarding the cost or expense for submarine cables per kilometer which will be used mainly for electric power.

Can this be also used for both power and communication lines at the same time? Lastly, how much will be the maintenance cost for the submarine cable?

Please help. Thank you.

You might add a little useful information to your question... Is this a to run a blinking buoy or an oil platform? And all the rest of the pertinent information someone would need before the could even begin to hazard a guess for you.

Voltage, length of cable, power transmitted, perhaps DC - not unusual in submarine cables, type of comminication signals - or at least how much information and how fast, water depth may have an influence. Can cable be buried in sea-floor or will it be hanging between two points? Are the two points fixed or moving? Ice? And much more is needed to - as smoked says - even dare to hazard a guess.

Siemens recently carried out the Basslink project using HVDC; a 400kV, DC submarine cable system linking Tasmania with Victoria. 300km long at a cost of about 300M euro. So, about 1Mil Euro per km.
 
I have seen direct burial distribution cable used succesfully at about 13,000 volts phase to phase. It was three paper insulated, lead covered, pvc jacketed conductors twisted into a triplex configuration. The neutral was a 4/0 THHN run alongside. It served for 15 years or so. Load was about 400 or 500KVA. One phase was eventially lost near a pothead, not under water but with not enough free cable left for repairs. When the cable was laid, divers used water jets to dredge a trench and put the cable about 2 feet under the surface. A 50 or 100 pair telephone cable was installed at the same time as the high voltage cable but I don't know if it's in the same trench. The distance is about 1500 feet submerged. Google for surplus direct burial cable.
A private customer has a similar installation with 15000 volt tech cable that has been in service for 4 or 5 years. The same 13000+ volts phase to phase.
Submarine cable is much much more expensive.
