I have a sump in a dike with sump pump installed. Since it does not automatically turn on, the pump will get partially submerged on a regular basis. In the winter the water could freeze around it. I would like to prevent that.
Since the discharge pipe is heat traced, I would like to just extend some self regulating heat trace down around the pump. Is there heat trace that can be mounted in wet/submerged area?
I was looking at de-icing roof gutter heat trace. It obviously gets wet normally. Is it OK to have this submerged (max depth ~2'). Any junctions would be out of potential wet area. I understand this cable has extra sheathing on it for water/weather protection.
Thanks,
Marty
