Hello there,

I am modelling an underground mine, I remove some elements to simulate excavations. After removing these elements, I have pillars (similar to columns in surface buildings), these pillars support the overburden rocks. the rock layer underneath the pillars is called the floor, while the rock layer over the pillars is called the roof, so we have roof/pillars/floor.

First i start with a big global model, it has almost the whole mine, I want to make submodel, i am interested in the stresses in some pillars only. I need some guidelines about how to do that.

Since i am interested only in some pillars, so Shall i choose the pillars only in the submodel, or i must choose some layers in the roof and in the floor.

Thanks

Hello everyone,

since my original model is complex, so i have made a small 3D-model to study how to make submode, but unfortunately i could not.

This model is 3D block under compression, the base is fixed, i remove some elements at the middle of the block. I want to make submodel to focuss only on the area around the excavated region (use finer mesh).

Could any one show me how can i make this submodel.
This is the input file for the global model
