Subroutine for evaluating a user stiffness matrix for element S8R

I'm trying to find a user subroutine that can give me the opportunity to change the transverse shear stiffness values of the stiffness matrix in a nonlinear way.
I've already implemented a subroutine UMAT for S8R but with this one I cannot control the transverse shear stiffness. I thougth it could useful adopting the user subroutine UGENS. Is it possible or I should use a UEL or a UELMAT?
