Subsea Hot-Stab Connection System Question

Hello everybody,

Hopefully I have put this in the appropriate forum. I’m looking for information about subsea hot-stab connectors for a chemical injection line. I’ve worked with collet and clamp connection systems but don’t have a lot of experience with hot-stab systems. I’ve been asked to gather some background information about hot-stab suppliers which I can do without really knowing much about the system itself, but I would like to find some more detailed information about how the system works for my own benefit. It also looks like we may be using a hot-stab connection on an upcoming project, so I will need to read up on them anyway.

I’ve done a preliminary internet search, but most of the sites are focused on selling the product not really explaining how they work. I’ve requested information from a few suppliers as well. I thought I would ask here also, as the members of this site have been extremely helpful with previous questions that I’ve posted. Does anybody have any good references regarding subsea hot-stab connection systems? Also, if anybody has past experience using the system, your input / opinion regarding hot-stab vs. other connection systems is appreciated as well.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Kat

I know that in the offshore oil drilling industry , they use hot stab to connect glycol and kill/ choke connections at depths up to 10k ft and more to the BOP. Maybe you have already checked out Vetco Gray,Cameron and Shaeffer subsea sites for your information.
Possibly the Petroleum exploration forum may be a better surce of info.

chief,

Thanks for your response. I haven't looked at the Shaeffer site yet, but will add it to my list of possible suppliers.

Cheers,
Kat
