summary of wear reistant plates

I get more and more need to specify wear plate. Does anyone know where I can find a summary of the different kinds of wear plate available and applications, advantages/disadvantages. My application is mostly quarries, mining etc.

I am not aware of the commercial grades available. But I provide a generic classification in terms of increased wear resistance. Some of the wear plate manufacturers in their brochure furnish such data claiming their product is superior to the competition!!

low alloy steel wear plates,(with or withour surface treatment)

high manganese steel wear plates,

Ni Hard wear plates

high Cr iron wear plates

The most appropriate wear plate will vary on various factors such as on size of material, hardness, silica content, drop height ( impact ) etc. Also downtime cost / availability, and difficulty of replacement.
Item 1 in the answer above , steel wear plates, come in a multitude of grades.
Also, there are other solutions such as ceramic, and rubber/ceramic wear plates.
