Sump Pump Selection 1

I have a pumping application that requires brackish ground waters to be pumped from a sump 6m below ground level.
The sump area is hazardous and I do not wish to have Operations or Maintenence people attending this pump.
Can anyone suggest what type of pump would be suitable for this duty? Flow 4l/s @ 20m.

I assume you mean hazardous because of falling/containment and not flammable atmosphere.
In that case, I like the electrical submersible pumps like Peabody-Barnes.

Why not try a simple pump like diaphragm pump like Wilden. It is very useful in such type of applications. Only disadvantage is you require compressed air .

If air is a problem , then are submersible pumps. Check whether Lutz have anything suitable for you

I know of a reciprocating (plunger) pump in the market that can handle such fluids. It can pump liquid from upto 9m depth.

I have seen it in oil and gas operations where the atmosphere is hazardous area and the pump is used for pumping hydrocarbon and water mixtures.

But you will need air or gas for powering it.

The pump is a texsteam pump 6100 series.

I had used diaphragm pumps for similar applications for a long time and always had trouble with pipes shaking, etc.
(even with the surge suppressors). The submersible electric pumps fast and is a smooth non-pulsating flow.
Air pumps best thing though if in a flammable atmosphere.
