Hi everybody.

last week our subcontractor report a vibration test on our Sundyne LMC337 compressor.
They told us that there is a high frequency vibration pick value which shows that we have problem with thrust washers and we need to replace them.

I have a question that basically how is possible to understand Thrust washer problem using vibration analysis?

data are as followed:
LMC 337

input shaft: ~3000 rpm ~50 Hz Input Gear has 120 teeth
Idler Shaft: 6720 rpm 112 Hz Upper Gear has 53 teeth & Lower Gear Has 125 Teeth
High Speed Shaft: 15232 rpm 254 Hz High Speed Gear has 55 teeth

the pick amplitude is measured 3-4 mm/s on 3150 Hz on Axial Direction

Typically excess backlash is visible as 3rd,5th.... order vibrations in the frequency spectra, or as squareish waves on the axial vibration channel.
