I am considering a multi zone standpipe system for a super high rise development.
There is a diagram of a three zone standpipe system in NFPA 14 (Fig A.7.1(c)) which shows a tank near the top of the building and is supplied by water from the standpipes serving the lower part of the building which is in turn supplied by water from the public main, boosted by pumps.
Question is, can anyone suggest how to size a tank like this? I would expect it does not need to have the full 30 minute duration water supply as it has a very large infill from the stanpipe in the lower zone.
