Superheated Steam - FRITZCHE FORMULA regarding

I came across a literature that FRITZCHE formula is more appropriate for Superheated steam lines than the conventional Crane or Darcy formulae for pressure loss in Piping.

Can this formula be used for sizing piping in a Power Plant like Main Steam Piping, Reheat Piping

Fritzsche's formula is an empirical one, based on typical (for Fritzsche!) pipe sizes and roughnesses. If you are working with the same sort of pipe as he did then you should get reasonable accuracy.

In my opinion it would be better to use the isothermal compressible equation. This is described in most fluids texts, eg Crane TP410 Equ 1-6. This is simply the Darcy Equation integrated for varying density - where the density varies with pressure isothermally. It allows you to specify the roughness of your pipe and use the same Moody chart used for Darcy. You could use the adiabatic version, but it is more complicated and in normal plant work it is not worth the extra effort. If you have unusually high velocities ( > 0.3 Mach ) then use the adiabatic equation (and in such a case I would definitely not trust Fritzsche).
