I NEED YOUR HELP IN IDENTIFYING SUPPLIERS FOR METERING PUMPS WHICH ARE FDA APPROVED FOR FOOD PROCESSING.
APPROXIMATE DELIVERY OF 1qt PER 5sec.
FLUID HAS LOW VISCOUSITY.

The FDA does not approve any equipment. They only approve materials for contact with food. So for example, 316SS and PTFE are approved for food contact. The agencies which approve equipment for use with food products in the USA include 3A Dairy Standards, BSSC for the baking industry and USDA for meat and poultry applications. The term "sanitary" pump is a very subjective one in my experience that depends on what product is being handled and what is acceptable for a specific type of food processor. Having said that, there are several manufacturers offering "sanitary" metering pumps with various industry approvals and differing levels of sanitary construction.

The specific type acceptable will have to be up to you and the inspector that will approve it's use in your plant. Manufacturers include Bran+Luebbe at Moyno at and Waukesha at

American Lewa introduced sanitary and hygenic diaphragm metering pumps earlier this year. These are spin-offs of their Ecodos line.

I don't want to be accused of promoting any products, so if you want my opinions about these pumps, let me know. I've only used the standard Ecodos pumps.

THERE ARE PUMPS FROM AMERICAN LEWA THAT ARE MADE FOR THE FOOD INDUSTRY. DEPENDING ON THE MATERIAL YOU HAVE TO METER AND IN WHAT PROCESS STEP YOU USE IT YOU MIGHT NOT NEED A FOOD GRADE PUMP.
