Support frame collapsed at a high-rise

This is fresh and most certainly sad news. It is the sort of thing that no one wants to ever hear.

We have in Florida Threshold inspection requirements. I am not sure what contributed to this disaster. However, I can say with certainty that in Florida we have been building like mad in the last years with no break for the engineer, inspector nor the builder. May be slowing down a little may help in avoiding disastrous results.

I worked as a Threshold Inspector for a year in Florida - but we didn't inspect construction works, just rebar cages, making sure things were built according to the plan, etc. The story makes this out to be a failure of a temporary works and maybe safety wasn't paid enough attention to?

It would appear to be a shoring collapse......which is part of the inspection process for Threshold Buildings in Florida. Shoring and re-shoring must be inspected by the Threshold Inspector.
