I am working on an installation of Architechural Lighting outdoors in Texas. I am looking for suggestions on what type of pole shoulbe be used. The light fixture is approx. 130 pound and I need to raise it to 15 feet.

Like the spreads on the upcoming super bowl game, there are many choices. The easiest is to go to a lighting manufacturer's web site and see what they use for a similar condition. Wind speeds vary considerably for Texas, especially in the coastal regions, and this will have a significant effect on the size of the pole. However, 15 feet is pretty short so the difference may not be that large.

Please refer to AASHTO Standard Specifications for Design of Highway Signs, Luminaires and Signs. This is a very good reference for calculation of loads.
