Hi,

Can I design support saddles of an heat exchanger with EN13445 calculation for an ASME U1-Stamp project (with ASME VIII-1 allowable stresses obviusly)?
Thanks

It would depend I think if this is possible under appendix 46.

- You never get what you expect, you only get what you inspect.

Support saddles are outside of the scope of ASME Section VIII Div. 1 so you can design them using any method that you and your client agree upon. It is not required to use ASME materials/ASME allowable stresses.

You will need to add a remark to the Data Report indicating U-2(g) was used for the saddle design.

As a guide see:
PIP VESV1002 (2019)
Design and Fabrication Specification for Vessels
“Code-allowable stresses shall be used for vessels and their supports”

Thanks to all, very appreciated!
