For vertical pressure vessels that has a skirt with base plate support can I utilize a JE = 1 in my required lower skirt required thickness calculation? Assume the skirt is welded directly to the base plate with a fillet weld only.
My intent is to use a JE = 0.6 (butt weld joint) for the top skirt required thickness calculation.
