On occasion when I open up an assembly, a vast majority mates are sometimes suppressed. It is seemingly a random selection of mates that are unsupressed.

I can go thru and individually change suppression state. But is there something I am missing?? Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Are you sure they're actually suppressed? I've had assemblies come up with the mate icons greyed-out but still active.

Do you have configurations in this assembly?

Are any of the parts lightwieght or suppressed when you open it?

You can change the state of the mates more than one at a time also. There is and icon in the features toolbar (you have to add it) that lets you suppress all the highlighted mates at once. I think RMB suppress works in SW03 now.

I woud look to see if you have Configurations in your model. We had an employee about 2 years ago that totally messed up a lot of data for us. He was an AutoCAD convert, and had very little experience with SW. He was placed into a Supervisor position, and one of his main tasks was to "clean things up" on our networks and streamline our procedures.

A lot of times he deleted Supressed models and mates in Assemblies, not even understanding what Configurations were. He even deleted a bunch of archived history files, "We weren't using them for anything so I deleted them." Needless to say he left the company quickly, but not before causing major damage.

I think the stock in Bayer rose 33% that month.

thanks for the responses,

TheTick - yeah that sounds like what I am seeing, if I RMC the mate it says its unsupressed but still greyed-out. But the objects in the FM have the little '-' sign saying they are not fully fixed etc.

Scott - all objects unsuppressed and not lightweight. yip found that handy little icon tool ;-)

MadMango - There are configurations - this could possibly have caused the problem depending on how the rest of the team set up the config properties - may have to give a wee seminar on assembly configs.
