Hi
I am trying to create a surface by surf1--->Fill command. But i need this surface to be tangent continuous to adjacent faces. I have extracted adjacent faces from solidE--->Extractface command. Now how do i convert this face into surface so that i can choose it during my
Surf1---> fill command. Also if somebody can send me some tutorials on basic surfacing for V4. i have notes on advanced surfacing but they r not of much help.....
Thanks,
ME

You aren't going to get much help from the basic surfacing for what you are asking. However, you may want to read the basic, so you will know that surf1 fill is an option that you should *almost* never use. It's a very limited function, and you are definitely not using it correctly.

There was just a post this week on sites that sell tutorials. My suggestion is that you check it out. You won't probably get anyone to hand over Catia manuals. They're pretty much like owning gold. Sorry to be so frank. You might find a good deal on Ebay. I see them every once in awhile.

faces automatically create surfaces to sit on (unless they are planar) use Analysis > logical > Parents to find them in "No Show".

I agree with Solid7 though, The fill command shouldn't really be used, especially if tangency is a big concern, you can get some very strange shapes, if you do it this way check the surface that you create with reflect / section lines.

catiaeng...

Like the other guys, I was also told not to use FILL.

Assuming you have a 4 sided surface; I'd use PATCH to make a new surface between edges 1 and 3 and impose the tangency on both of these. Then use PATCH + DEFORM to impose the tangency on edges 2 and 4.

I guess you'll need tutorials for this as well. Think Cad Bleu has some good ones on V4

It would be much better to make geometry using isoparms and/or planar sections.

You are into freestyle surfacing with Patch... May not even be an option for all users.

Hi,

According to the 4 surfaces you have, their boundaries might not be good (not ARC but CCV or CRV) for your PATCH. You can approximate those boudaries into ARC or use the NET1 or NET 2 function if you have the license.
