Hi folks,

I have a question about the need for surface bonding.

I am building an accessory building here in Vermont, that will sit on a slab that is poured over frost wall. I have the footing and footing drains in place, footing has rebar throughout and hook dowels.

I am starting to lay up the wall. The wall will be comprised of 12" CMUs dry laid, reinforced vertically 24" OC and horizontally 16" OC, with grouted cores. As the wall goes up, I also plan to backfill the exterior of the wall and interior, until I reach the start height of the slab.

My original plan included surface bonding both sides of the wall. But am now rethinking the necessity of that.

Thoughts?
