Where can I find information showing the equivalent SPI finish to a machined surface finish? Example: 32 microinch is what in the SPI system.

Whiv,

I don't have access to a full list - but the most common ones I use are as below :-

SPI-C1: 600 grit stone, 10-12 Ra
SPI-B1: 600 grit paper, 2-3 Ra
SPI-A2: Grade #2 Diamond Buff, 1-2 Ra

I think in general the lettering follows the following convention

A High polish 1 being the best finish grade
B Paper finish
C Stone finish
D Dry blasting

You can find out more information on SPI finishes on their homepage at
Hope this helps
