surface functionalities

Hi friends,

I am new to Solidworks but have been using Pro/E extensively. So obviously while modelling, I think like how would I do that thing in Pro/E & try to find that functionality in Solidworks.
I am trying to find the following analogous functionalities in Solidworks:
1. To create a surface with "CAPPED ENDS".
2. To create a protrusion using "USE QUILT" option.
3. To create datum planes "ON THE FLY".

Okay, we give up, please explain the functions in Proe so we can explain how to do them in SWorks?

Well to answer one of the questions...

Surface with capped ends can be accomplished by extruding the surface (or whatever you are using to define it sweep. loft etc.) Select the open edges and if they are planar, use the planar surface command to close each end individually. if for some reason the surface is not planar you can make use of the surface patch function. with this function you can control things like tangency, contact, and profile by using a "constrain curve".

Question 2: I dunno what a quilt is in Pro

Question three:

You can create refernce geometry on the fly in various ways depending on the desired type. For instance you can select a curve near its endpoint and start a new sketch. It will automatically generate a plane normal to that curve at its endpoint. What exactly are you looking for, maybe I can help.
