see attachment..cant find any of such functions in catia especially closing holes and gaps. i googled for closing holes in catia and there's no result. seems like fill and join is the only way to go. available license for me is XM2. any suggestions how it can be done in catia with less time spending?

Hi,
You will have to use fill and join only in surface design. There is no other option available in surface design as far as i know. All the Best.

closing holes...here you can use untrim
for the corners you first have to create the curve then split your surface
for the modify by sketch, you might have to combine several function based on your case and geometry history.

thanks.
untrim works fine also for removing radius on surface. this function can really save some time.

and one more question. in NX i can easily move holes or other elements by specifying distance and direction.
can it be done in catia? seems like to rebuild a feature is the only way to go.

Hi,

In CATIA you can only move a part body as a whole.you cannot move holes individually.you can edit the position of the hole by double clicking on the feature and edit the sketch position. All the Best.
Dear itsmy job,
********** the untrim option was useful which i was not aware. thank you.************

in 60 percent cases customers supply to me stp or parasolid..and i don't have a license for feature recognize.
anyway thanks for the answers. happy New Year

If you are getting a solid without history, I don't know of a way to move a hole without filling the old hole and creating a new one.

if you have a solid, you can sometimes remove holes (and other features) with the REMOVE FACE command. just be sure to select all the faces that define the hole.
