Surface skews when using "AM2SF" command

I generate a 3dmesh in autocad from a script file using "3DMESH M x N". Then I convert it to a surface using "AM2SF". When I view it wireframe, it looks very close to my mesh, but when I view it in "shaded" it seems off and distorted in some areas. Therefore converting it to a surface causes some distortion or discontinuities. Anyone else seen this and/or could explain how to hold it closer to its' shape? Any help appreciated.
