Hey guys. I do have a simple question. Maybe you got a simple answer.

Plot: I made a swept blend (in ProE) of to circles with different diameters and i got a cone. I can then mark the outer surface with a click on it and it turns red(selected).

Question: How can I transfer this round surface to a sketch? I can then plot the sketch to get a template to cut the plate from and just bend and weld it to produce my cone.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know how to do what you want the way you want to, but I do know of another way to get the same result.

If you have Pro/sheetmetal, you can create the cone directly, and create a flat pattern from it.

1. Create a new part
2. Go to Applications -> Sheetmetal & click confirm
3. Go to Insert -> Sheetmetal Wall -> Unattached -> Revolve
4. Create your cone (all you need in the sketch is the centreline & a single line showing the cone OD (or ID, or centreline as desired)
5. Go to Insert -> Bend Operation -> Flat Pattern

You can then create a drawing from the flat pattern.
