Surge Supressor 2/0 downconductor to be installed as suggested has to go through the Hazardous Area.
Surge Supressor, (connected with radio antenna) is on the top of the construction (unclassified area) but lower levels are Hazardous Areas Zone 2 because of heavy flammable gases.
I said on the meeting that is not acceptable, but Menager says that must be installed.

Generally,I am trying to find solution. That one doesn't work.

Hi Pristava,

Tough choices. I have never run into the need to intentionally run conductors designed to carry lightning current thru a hazardous area. Even insulated and within rigid conduit, voltage levels can spike up high enough to cause an arc to a nearby piece of grounded structure (perhaps the steel that the conduit might be clamped to).

I'd consult with the local electrical inspector, see if he (or she) would allow it under any conditions...

Let us know what you find out!

Old Dave
