Has anyone of pals here implemented the static nonlinear procedure(SNP), also known as Static pushover analysis recommended among methods of analysis for seismic behavior in FEMA 273?

If yes, please share your experience with us. Is it for design offices or for research. I fail to draw the line.

Thanx in advance

Its definitely for design offices, IJR. However, I must state that this procedure and its counterpart for inelastic behavior have been the focus of much diagreement. For more I would refer you to where you will be able to search (search using ATC 37, 40, FEMA 273 or Anil Chopra)the abstract database for the Earthquake Spectra for articles pertaining to the use/abuse of these procedures. Thus you may formulate for yourself the usefulness of either method.

I will say that this is a step in the right direction after so many years of oversimplifying structural behavior with the application of equivalent static loads. But, alas, even the ESL has its place in analysis/design.

Cheers.
