I would like to be able to download control or off-set point coordinates directly from AutoCad into an Excel file. Does anyone have recommendations on how to perform this operation? My goal is to take a site drawing file and insert off-set points for surveying work. These offset points would be downloaded into an Excel file with North & East coordinates identified along with a identifier.

Thanks

I'm assuming you are working with LDD.

If so, then you can exchange the data using the Import/Export function within the Points pull-down menu; choose Export. You will need to select a file name and directory.

Afterwards, you will need to launch Excel, find the file you created, select it, and then 'walk' through the Excel dialog boxes. When you first open Excel, find Select File type and choose All Files, go to the directory where you placed the exported file and select it; then turn on the Delimiters button; hit Next; choose the Comma Delimiters; Next; then Finished. You NEZD data should appear in individual fields. I normally save the Excel file as a CSV file to distinguish it from the other files created. This type of file is very easy to transfer between devices (i.g. data collectors).

I hope this helps.

H.
